Interesting Bites

I’ve finished testing all the Wordpress themes & plugins for all my existing blogs & now is the time to start the real blogging.

To those who are new in blogging, Wordpress is fairly simple to install and use, however if you would like to customize it with plugins and new themes - there are more things to know. Being a non-techie myself, I find somethings darn hard to understand, and take quite a while to tweak it right.

I’ve also gathered a fair bit of information on Wordpress and would be using it extensively to build some post focusing on Wordpress for those who would like to start using Wordpress.

I joined Cafepress a week ago - went through the entire site, and decided that it was time to do something about it.

Ok, I admit - my designs are not really attractive - but hey… it was done in ..what… 30 minutes? Anyway, I churned out some simple (& ugly) designs and pluck it into Cafepress, selected what I wanted to sell and it is there!

I know there is still a lot of fine tuning to be done.. which I will do it when I finally get my print site and my print blog all done up pretty & nice.

Among some of the things I would like to improve on my Cafepress site …..

1. To include better keywords in each of the product’s title - maybe to something attractive & appealing to the target market
2. To open new stores specializing in specific merchandise - eg. Attires For Mr. Furry… specialize in attires for doggies.
3. To come up with attractive descriptions for each item (part of No.1). Maybe some story behind the design.
4. To study other store’s products & figure whether I could simulate something alike. Never reinvent the wheel , those who have done it well… should be followed.
5. To promote it aggresively. Maybe include the link into my print site & other sites
6. And last but most important - to come up with more original ideas for the designs - afterall, that’s what make it sells rite?

They have a decent choice of pajamas, and one that I was interested in was a cotton lycra sweet short cami pajama set , which was going for $8 with a minimum purchase of 3 pcs.  The suggested retail price is $34 - $44!  So, if you are selling this either online or offline, you can really make a neat profit.  Hmm… maybe I should sell this in my online stores?

Also, do check out the naughty lingerie section… they have a men section as well.  The designs are …err… imaginative!  You have to check it out to see for yourself.

After experimenting with Wordpress for a couple of weeks & tons of new testing blogs, I’m proud to announce that hubby has a new blog … www.bryankoh.more2go.com and his old Navision Tips & Tricks blog.

Hubby is picking up PHP, hopefully with the combination of my design skills (self-learnt one.. so don’t expect the sky!), we can churn out something nice for Wordpress also.

I am working on some projects… *secret* for now. Will be able to see it soon…

I’ve been so busy of late - with printing orders, new website, new blog, new technologies to learn…etc.

And, now I am contemplating to have an online storefront. There are a zillion things to consider…

1. What marketing budget I will have for this site to generate interest & visits?
2. What platform I want to use? Ebay? Lelong.com.my? Or my own website & struggle to promote it? Have to choose the smartest & most cost-effective way… of course!
3. What’s my initial investment for this project? 1K? 400?
4. Payment gateway - 2co.com? paypal? or…

With all these questions in mind, I have decided to opt for a ready-platform. Either Ebay.com.my or Lelong.com.my .. but I am still wondering if any of these two will be able to generate that kind of sale for the products that I want to sell.

Oh yes.. what products I want to sell… hehe… I am sourcing for products. No point in selling things that no one will buy online. For a start, it will be a Malaysian market only… so I am doing some research.
