Joomla 1.5x vulnerability : I was hacked

If you are using Joomla 1.5x (anything prior to release 1.56), then you are the next target for hackers.  My joomla website (under development) was hacked into recently, and I lost everything that I have painfully developed.  Nevertheless, this is a lesson to me that I should always check for vulnerabilities and to instantly patch it.

For those who are using Joomla, you can use the below method to check if your website is vulnerable to remote admin password change :-

STEP 1

Go to your URL and key in http:www.yourwebsite.com/index.php?option=com_user&view=reset&layout=confirm

(replace www.yourwebsite.com with your actual website)

STEP 2

Type the character ‘ in the box and press ok

STEP 3

Type in your new password

STEP 4

Try to login.  If you can login with the new password, then you should rush to the below sites to get a quick fix.

NOTE: Please do not use the below to test on other people’s website, as hacking in any form is illegal and you can be legally prosecuted.

How I fared on Personality Test

I did a personality test on this website My Personality and I would say that there is some truth in the analysis.  I answered some 70-odd questions, and in return, this is what came up :-

This is what my personality type is : INTJ.  I copied an extract from the website :-

INTJs are introspective, analytical, determined persons with natural leadership ability. Being reserved, they prefer to stay in the background while leading. Strategic, knowledgable and adaptable, INTJs are talented in bringing ideas from conception to reality. They expect perfection from themselves as well as others and are comfortable with the leadership of another so long as they are competent. INTJs can also be described as decisive, open-minded, self-confident, attentive, theoretical and pragmatic.

And these are the jobs that are purportedly suitable for INTJ personalities :-

  • Business Administrator
  • Computer Programmer
  • Computer Specialist
  • Corporate Strategist
  • Dentist
  • Engineer
  • Judge
  • Lawyer/Attorney
  • Manager
  • Medical Doctor
  • Military Officer
  • Organization Founder
  • Photographer
  • Psychologist
  • Researcher
  • Scientist
  • Systems Analyst
  • Teacher/Professor

Interesting?

Hamster Adoption

After weeks of waiting, I have finally met up with one of the many people who are keen on adopting my Roborovski. I met Ms. Marilynn in Kelana Jaya LRT station, and she came with a small container to ferry two 3-month old Roborovski hamsters. I said goodbye to the hamsters earlier on, but I know that its impossible for me to keep all 15 of them. I love all the same, but they have grown too many to handle.

Now, I’m down to 13. I still have one 3-month old and four 3-weeks old to be given away. If you know anyone or if you are interested to keep these cute little Roborovski as pets, please message me. I’m based in Kuala Lumpur, so you have to find a way to collect them from my location.

A little note on Roborovski :-

1. They don’t bite. You can touch them, hold them, clean them easily without the fear of them biting you.

2. They eat mainly their own feed, which can be purchased from a pet store. Other than that, they can eat vegetables, water chestnut (they love this), carrots, fruits. But never ever feed them citrus food - especially orange.

3. Roborovski has a tendency to ’store’ food within their own cage. So, you might need to check on it to ensure that they are not rotten.

4. They require at least a cage wash once a week.

5. Just need to make sure that they have water and food daily.

Roborovski Hamster for Adoption

I just returned from my trip to Lang Tengah, and I’m greeted by 7 new baby hamsters!

I already have 11 hamsters currently, and I’m trying to find new owners for the 7 new baby hamsters.  If you know anyone who would like to keep hamsters as pets, and would love them as much as I do - please tell me!  Roborovski Hamsters are very easy to care for, all they need is sufficient food and water and a clean cage (which requires cleaning once a week).  They are entertaining and provide good companionship.  The maximum size they can be is about 2 inches.

Unlike larger species, they don’t bite and are very tame.  All of them have their own characters - some are lazy, some are glutton and some are sleepy heads (like me!).  They are each unique, so you can really tell them apart.

If you are interested to have Roborovski Hamsters or you know of anyone who wants one, please tell me!

Nasty Accident at LDP 8:11PM

There was a nasty accident at LDP (near Damansara Perdana) today as we were driving home.  A Naza Citra rammed into a Mercedes Benz which then rammed into a Proton Saga Aeroback.   From what I see, the Naza Citra (the last car) must have just rammed straight into the Merc without stopping, and the impact pushed the car to ram the other car in front.

The moral of the story is to not drive too fast, especially at the corners and turns as you will never know if there is a slower car in front and you could just ram straight into the car.  LDP is one of the highways that has a very high accident rate.  People drive very fast especially when the traffic is not so heavy.  When I was staying at Kelana Jaya previously, we would always hear car screeching followed by a loud bang especially on weekends.  My brother and myself (we live in one of the condos) would go up to the 10th floor to take a good look of the accident from the highest floor.

And usually, when an accident happens - the traffic congestion is amazing!  Today itself, hubby and myself were caught in 2 congestions because of accidents.

Sunday Morning at The Curve

We decided to go to The Curve today because I wanted to buy some groceries & household stuff at Tesco Mutiara Damansara today.  Hubby also brought along his camera because there is a Sony Centre there, which he wanted to send his lens for servicing.

When we reached there, we saw a huge crowd gathering outside The Curve, near the Starbucks at Borders.  When we went to take a look, then only did we realise that there is two Hong Kong celebrities there to promote their latest movie.  I can’t recall the name of the guy artiste, but the lady artiste was Bernice Liu (the spokesperson for Marie France).  I told hubby to take the opportunity in snapping some photographs of the artiste.  A lot of people also took the opportunity to take photos of the celebrities with their handphones, some with their instant cameras and there were two with professional camera (including hubby’s).  It was hot and it was held outdoors.  Amazing how the artiste can put up with the heat… talking & entertaining in the hot sun.  It ended at about 30 minutes.

Then we had our breakfast cum lunch at News Cafe - so that we could read some magazines as we are eating.   Haha… talk about being stingy.  Hubby then sent the lens for servicing at Sony Style.  It will take 5 days to do the servicing, then we have to pick it up from the same place.

I bought a couple of stuff at Tesco before we went home.  When we reached home, it was already close to 2PM.  There goes my Sunday!
